Lift safety and compliance

Standards, mandatory inspections, compliance upgrades and owner responsibility: what to know, anticipate and document.

Lift safety and compliance

When it comes to safety, responsibility lies with the owner of the installation, whatever the quality of the maintenance company. That is an uncomfortable position if you lack the technical means to verify what is done.

Our role is to make that responsibility manageable: inspections understood, gaps identified, corrections prioritised and complete traceability.

What is expected of the owner

The owner must be able to demonstrate that the installation is kept in safe working order, that periodic inspections take place and that reported gaps are dealt with. This is not a question of goodwill, but of available evidence.

  • Maintenance provided by a competent professional
  • Periodic inspections carried out and documents kept
  • Non-conformities dealt with within the announced deadlines
  • Up-to-date instructions and signage in the cars
  • Traceability of interventions and replaced parts

Inspections and reports

Inspection reports are brief and written in technical language. We translate them into decisions: what must be corrected immediately, what can be planned, and what stems from a debatable interpretation by the inspector.

We can support the owner in exchanges with the inspection body and the maintenance company, in particular when a contestable observation triggers a significant expense.

Becoming compliant without over-investing

Bringing an old installation fully into compliance can sometimes cost close to a modernisation. There is almost always an intermediate route: treat the gaps with a real safety impact first, then fold the rest into a multi-year plan or a modernisation project.

That prioritisation, quantified and defensible, is what we provide.
